On teaching a new course

Daniel Little (Michigan – Dearborn) is taking over a class on the American Civil Rights movement for a historian who’s on sabbatical, and he reflects on the experience for the Huffington Post.

There is nothing routine about teaching college courses to undergraduates. It requires effort and thought to connect with students in ways that genuinely engage them. And faculty almost uniformly give the effort needed to creating learning experiences for their students that will help to transform them through the process.
