The National Post reports on philosophy’s “gender war”

The lengthy piece is here, including quotes from men and women philosophers on both sides of the debate. The piece centers around the modest proposal on NewAPPS, which ProPhi reported on.

…the debate rages on in the global philosophy community and raises broader questions around affirmative action: Does this kind of boycott go too far? Is naming-and-shaming appropriate? Is it a man’s responsibility to fight what some say is a woman’s fight?

“This is actually a great academic discussion about the appropriate and moral way to conduct academic conferences. And it is certainly a great philosophical discussion about whether and how to try to influence behaviour,” [Nathalie Des Rochiers, general counsel for the Canadian Civil Liberties Association] said.
