Martha Nussbaum wins Prince of Asturias Award

The foundation that grants the award aims to “contribute to encouraging and promoting the scientific, cultural and humanistic values that form part of mankind’s universal heritage.”

The foundation has given out at least six awards per year since 1981. Of the 36 recipients of the Social Science award, Nussbaum (University of Chicago) is only the second woman. (Mary Robinson, Former Irish President and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, won in 2006.)
